About the Artist

Melissa Finkenbiner moved in 2011 from the U.S. to Myanmar, then Armenia, Zimbabwe, and Japan. Living in these diverse places has inspired her to pay homage to the landscape, people, and materials in each country.

She is cross-disciplined, but everything is connected through sustainable designs with earthy elements and tones. 水と山 (Water and Mountain), is inspired by the fluid nature of water, and the unmoving nature of a mountain. In addition to ink paintings, she is creating pieces of art from selected rubbish from urban areas and beaches in Japan.
