Nippon Viajero presents authentic Latin American workshops using fresh local ingredients. The culinary instructor will show you how to source ingredients, teach you family and modern recipes, and connect you with a diverse community in Japan.

Workshop Details

We offer private party workshops, team building workshops suitable for companies, and private tailored workshops. Workshops are held in person in Tokyo and Hayama.

Our usual Tokyo location is near Sky Tree at Plat295. Our Hayama location is at the Moshimo Cafe & event space near Morito Beach. Just a bus ride from Zushi Station. We at times host events in other parts of Japan. Stay updated with our events by following our social media @nipponviajero.

Workshops are 2-3 hours in length, the fee includes ingredients, recipes, and drinks.

We ask participants to wear masks at all time during the event except when eating and drinking. If you feel unwell please refrain from attending.

Mole Masterclass


This masterclass is on one of the dishes that you all have most requested. Mole is a staple dish of Mexico that can be compared to thai and indian curries. But Mexican, using chiles, nuts, herbs, spices, fruits, and sometimes even chocolate.

Mole can be dated back centuries and can be both a ceremonial dish and an everyday meal depending on the celebration and preparation.

In this masterclass we will tackle two mole preparations one that can be considered ceremonial and one that is easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Join us in yet another unique culinary experience in Japan.



New culinary workshop!

This workshop focuses on celebratory dishes of Mexico that are available throughout the seasons.

To launch this unique workshop we will celebrate Mexico’s Independence Day and its most traditional and coveted dish Chile en Nogada.

A stuffed poblano pepper dish smothered in a white goat cheese and walnut sauce.

Salsas & Antojitos Workshop

In this workshop the instructor will guide you into a unique experience in Japan. Dive into the Mexican world of spices and learn how to make salsas of varying heat. Learn why chili is the soul of Mexican gastronomy the magical element of Mexican cooking.

Conchas is the quintessential bread of Mexican bread shops. In short when you visit Mexico you haven’t tried it all until you have a concha. In Japan you can find an similar bread Melon pan.

Summer Harvest Workshop

Experience and tour a farm in Japan to better understand summer ingredients in Japan and learn A unique farm to table experience.

3rd Dia de los Muertos Workshop

Available October 30th 2022

In Mexico, Día de Muertos is a time to celebrate family members who are no longer with us.

During this time we make Pan de Muerto an orange blossom infused sweet bread, hot chocolate or as we call it chocolate caliente, sugar skulls, ofrendas, altars, and more! In this workshop you will learn how to make traditional Pan de Muerto and Mexican hot chocolate, plus a sugar skull to decorate and take home.

Latin-American Cooking Class


In this workshop we dive into the vast world of Latin-America and its spices. Our next workshop is TBA.


Cancellation and Payment Policy

Cancellations must be done 7 days in advance for a full credit. Half credit for 4 days before the lesson and no credit for 72 hour cancellations.

Please note that we are a small business that supports other local businesses. When you schedule a workshop we work hard to give back to the community and source the freshest ingredients possible, even if the workshops are online. We believe in giving back to the community and supporting small and local shops.

Please note the credit is only transferable once and it must be used within 6 months of the initial cancellation otherwise the credit will be lost. Credits are non-transferable to other participants.

General Terms and conditions when attending Nippon Viajero culinary activities

Nippon Viajero holds the right to refuse a participant to attend a class if the instructor feels they are intoxicated or may cause harm to themselves or anyone else attending the activity

RELEASE OF LIABILITY: When participating in a Nippon Viajero cooking class where the participant will be around or using sharp and potentially dangerous tools suitable to a kitchen environment, the participant releases, indemnifies and excludes Nippon Viajero and its employees from any and all liability of any kind for any damage or injury incurred while attending or visiting Nippon Viajero cooking classes.
The participant understands these terms and conditions and accepts the inherent risks of a kitchen environment when they book and make full payment for a cooking class.

START TIME: Classes run by Nippon Viajero start on time. If you are not on time for the cooking class, we will proceed without the participant and they will be considered a no-show. Neither partial nor full credits will be given.

DAMAGE/LOSS OF PERSONAL PROPERTY:  Nippon Viajero will take all necessary care but does not accept responsibility for the damage to or loss of merchandise left in the venue prior to, during or after a class. Nippon Viajero is not responsible for the loss or damage of personal items in any form.

DAMAGE/LOSS OF NIPPON VIAJERO PROPERTY: The participant may be held financially responsible for any damage to or loss of Nippon Viajero property during the class. The cost of repairing any damage to walls, doors or other parts of the property as a result of inappropriate conduct will be charged to the person involved.

Nippon Viajero will be unable to provide for your class due to circumstances beyond their control, Nippon Viajero, is not responsible for any costs, damages or expenses that you may suffer or incur.
